Agenda:
- Locate the packet that you received yesterday.
- If you did not receive one, there are a few extras in the bin. (There’s also some on the front bookshelf. It is the very thick, white packet that says, “teachers only,” but actually consists of released materials that anyone can access online (in case anyone is wondering).
- Take the first fifteen minutes and read one of the essays that follows the rubric in this packet. You may complete this on your own or with a partner. Select either a level 6 or level 5.
- (You can see the levels in the ribbon at the top of the paper.)
- If you cannot read the handwriting in the first essay, you have at least four other options to choose from at the 5 or 6 level.
- As you read the paper, mark up what you notice the sample student did in order to follow the Part 2 directions that we have been reviewing for the last couple of weeks. ....such as:
- A clear claim
- 3 different sources
- Citations
- Specific evidence
- Analysis of that evidence in your own words
- A counterclaim and a rebuttal explaining why that other side is wrong
- 5 paragraphs
- Turn in your mark-ups with everyone's name at the top after the fifteen minutes.
- Next, boot your devices. While devices are loading, you will receive your graded part 2s from the sub. If you completed a Part 2 and do not get it back, ask the sub to look in the green folders on my desk. It should be slid into the folder labeled with your class period on them (not in the pockets).
- Review your feedback and complete today's Schoology handout/reflection based on it. Yes, this is a grade. It is called Week 18: Part 2 reflection.
- **If you did not complete a Part 2, you should work on it at this time and try to turn it in today. You will know if this applies to you because you will not be getting an essay back.**
Honors: Get a packet, look over rubric like the other class did yesterday, and read samples at the higher end
Homework: Regular classes need to submit self-reflection
