Theme Review and What's Part 3 Again?

   Agenda:

  • Warm-up: Review possible themes from yesterday/ID what is wrong with them and continue the vocab. site
    • People shouldn't be lazy.
    • The second elevator was just as bad of a choice.
    • Things can cause problems.  
  • Test theme w/ horror movie "The Elevator"
    • Discuss commercial fiction v. serious fiction
  • Part 3 Directions Overview
  • Read "The Year of Silence" (Ju 16) Excerpt
    • At the end, ID a central idea (as a thematic statement)
    • ID one writing strategy that supports that central idea
  • Honors:
    • Finish save the last word for me
    • Begin discussing the above
    • Look at student sample (if time permits)

Homework:
  • Make sure you have marked up the text as directed
  • The Crucible vocab. will be due in mid Oct.
